I am a compliance professional with expertise in the areas of environmental safety and health. I've been working in this regard for over 15 years, and have carved out a very unique work history, including spending years working in sanitation, quality assurance, shipping, inventory control, and even finance. My history provides me the dynamic experience to shape any company to a more secure and profitable future.
Take a look!
I started my compliance career at TeraFlex more than 15 years ago. At that time there was no safety and health program, so I volunteered to establish and run it. Over the years I was able to build an exemplary Safety Management System (SMS) from the ground up, which provided me with invaluable knowledge and experience in every aspect of compliance. Along the way I also fulfilled many other roles for the company while also being over their EHS program:
Finished Goods Inventory Specialist where I improved inventory tracking and reduced lost product..
Shipping Department Manager, where I was able to double the package output & reduced costs by more than $500,000 annually.
Quality Department Manager, where I developed the entire program from scratch, reduced non-conformances & established better supplier quality.
Process Improvement Manager, where I developed the document control system and documented the entire company's processes from the ground up, including integrations with ISO 9001.
During my tenure, TeraFlex grew 2.5 times its original size, and I was able to build operations and systems that held the test of time. In fact, the SMS was the beacon for Wheel Pros when they came knocking.
In 2022, I began working for Wheel Pros, which later became Hoonigan. They were a fast growing company, spending money and expanding at a rapid pace. Sadly, the economy soon slowed down due to progressive inflation, leaving the aftermarket auto parts dealer in a poor position for sustainability, which lead to several rounds of layoffs. After just over a year of working for them, the atmosphere of uncertainty pushed much of upper management to seek employment elsewhere, including myself. In my time there I was able to capture some invaluable experiences and leave the company far better off than I found it.
I implemented and maintained their Environmental Safety Management System (SMS).
I managed, coached, and audited multiple facilities and hundreds of personnel at two manufacturing facilities and three distribution centers.
I initiated and perpetuated a data management system to track all compliance activities in my region; which Wheel Pros eventually copied and instituted across the company at large.
I continued improving and documenting company processes.
I was a certified instructor for equipment, first aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
I sat on the Board of Directors.
Since August of 2023 I have been working as the Safety, Sanitation, and Compliance Manager for a Family Dollar Distribution Center (DC) in St. George, Utah. In just over two years, I have been able to improve my distribution center and bring it more into compliance with my strong understanding of OSHA, FDA, EPA, and RCRA requirements. Here are some statistics:
After my first full year of running their incident claims program, I was able to reduce recordable injury claims by 65.6%, which equated to approximately $644,400 in real injury related savings for the DC.
At least annually, corporate holds an internal safety audit, and after a year of running their safety program our DC saw an increase of 12.2%, giving our DC a second place finish amongst all Family Dollar distribution centers. This means better compliance and incident prevention.
After a year of running the sanitation program and the DC Sanitation Department, we improved our FDA mandated Food Safety Audit score by 20.73%, providing us with a first place finish amongst all other 26 distribution centers.
Multiple times during my tenure I have been asked to collaborate with Family Dollar Corporate on projects and lead out on safety, sanitation, and compliance projects.
